Model Apartment,
71 Bowen Streeet
Providence RI.
was inhabited from 1984 to 1988 by Joshua Pearson, Gardner Post, and Ben Carlson. The rent was $375 a month. When we first moved in, the building manager told us that we would be the last tenants because the landlord wanted to demolish the building.
So we took some liberties re-decorating.
The centerpiece of this intensely claustrophobic yet fully functional student apartment was the plastic flower garden ceiling (top left), made from several hundred plastic flowers salvaged from cemetery dumps. Another notable feature was the coin-operated fail-safe emergency cat handling and isolation feeding chamber (lower right).
